The first time I remember hearing Peter, Paul, & Mary was in Aunt Emily's van on the way home from Blue Knob.  Since that time, I've always liked their music - a great representation of the type of folk-style harmonies and campfire music that my dad plays.

Something as simple as a song and a memory has great power to bind us all together, whether from East Coast to West Cost or from this life to eternity.

  As a young kid growing up in Southfield, MI in 1972 my Uncle Irving stopped by the house as he would

 often do but this time he drove up in his new 2 door sports car. To my surprise and delight , he asked meif I   would like to drive  it.

   As a  normal 14 year old curious kid, I  could not refuse. My father had let me drive his car around the block or the parking lot or hold the wheel while he was driving, but never a stick shift.

 Uncle Irving just handed me the keys and said "lets go". My feet could barely reach the peddles.  I feigned as if I knew what I was doing. However, it was quite awkward when we chugged along after I grinded the gears trying to shift into gear. Uncle Irving was not even upset. He would never even show his anger.  But I eventually learned thanks to my Dear Uncle Irving. You will be im my heart and mind for eternity. Love you Uncle!
